Key requirements and conditions to check

The notes below are a practical summary for planning. They do not replace the official terms and conditions. Before entering, open the official prize page and check every date, fee, eligibility rule, delivery requirement and collection condition.

  • Entries opened 13 April 2026 and close 12 July 2026.
  • Finalists are announced 10 August 2026.
  • Cut-off for artwork delivery to Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf is 7 September 2026.
  • Winners are announced 1 October 2026.
  • The finalists exhibition runs 2 October to 29 November 2026 at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.
  • The Viewers’ Choice Award is announced 30 November 2026.
  • Works must be original sculptures, freestanding, non-site-specific, three-dimensional or wall-mounted objects.
  • Works should not exceed 80cm in any dimension and must have a stable base or appropriate mount.
  • Works must have been designed or completed within one year prior to July 2026.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries an artist can submit, but official terms should be checked.

How to prepare an entry

A strong prize entry is not only about the artwork. It also depends on whether the work fits the category, whether it can be safely delivered, whether all paperwork is prepared, and whether the artist understands the exhibition and collection obligations.

  • Measure the sculpture carefully, including base or mount.
  • Check weight and transport practicality.
  • Make sure the work is stable and presentable at small scale.
  • Prepare clear images and a concise statement if required.
  • Budget for delivery to Woollahra Gallery if selected.
  • Check whether the acquisitive main award affects your willingness to enter.

Common mistakes

  • Submitting work over 80cm in any dimension.
  • Forgetting the base or mount when calculating dimensions.
  • Entering unstable or difficult-to-transport work.
  • Ignoring delivery date after finalist selection.
  • Not understanding acquisitive award terms.

Practical planning note

Put the official deadline, delivery period, fee, work dimensions, medium restrictions and collection period into your own tracker. If the prize requires physical delivery, do not wait until the closing week to solve transport or framing.
